Dreams Become Reality

So yesterday I said we received something in the mail that could make an adult woman ugly cry. Well, here it is!!! Yesterday we received our notarized “Satisfaction of Mortgage” letter AND an overpayment check! I’m finding proper words failing me at this moment, so please bear with me as I share something very personal.

13 years ago, my husband and I bought this house together as college roommates. We had lots of roomies and we found it to be a great place for us at the time. We could all live together and we wouldn’t be throwing away rent money each month. We never imagined we’d later date and marry, let alone have CHILDREN here! Honestly, we didn’t even glance at the school district back then. Basically, it was a house with a roof, lots of rooms and since we had lots of roommates, voila! Fast forward to present day, we’re now married with two kiddos and we’re stuck “upside down” in house debt, so we can’t sell it without losing a barrel of money. So now we pay tuition and drive our oldest to private school every day. We certainly make ends meet, but this is not what we envision for our family. This is not where we want to call HOME and raise our babies.

On this date (April 3!) last year, I signed up as a “discount coach” and ordered 21 Day Fix for myself. I had no intention of starting a business. I just wanted a discount on those nifty little portion control containers and the awesome workouts! Turns out, I had found a program that was so simple and so effective, well, I couldn’t shut up about it, haha! I quickly discovered I was bitten by a bug. That little bug wanted me to pay it forward and help others on their health and fitness journeys, too. So in June, I launched this page and started helping others not only on health & fitness journeys, but in financial freedom as well.

Not only were we able to pay off one of our two mortgages, but we were so aggressive with applying my Beachbody earnings to it that we actually overpaid it without even realizing it! I mean, really?! I sat here yesterday and just stared at the paperwork in disbelief. Blessed does not begin to describe how I feel at this moment.

Are we packing boxes and moving tomorrow? Nah! We do still have a second mortgage. But I’ll be damned if this isn’t a MAJOR step for our future. We’re one step closer to where we want to be.
